Every year when the lunar New Year festival draws near, the Vietnam People’s Navy dispatches a special working trip, bringing gifts from the mainland to officers, soldiers and people on garrisoned on Truong Sa.
The gifts are considered food for thought for those who work day and night to firmly defend national sovereignty and national integrity.
This is a special working trip because it is only made when the lunar New Year festival approaches.
Brigade 146 of the Fourth Regional Command of the Vietnam People’s Army has recently received a handful of gifts from organisations and individuals to officers, soldiers and people on the islands.
With Tet gifts transported from the mainland, Truong Sa islanders feel as if they always receive material and spiritual support from their compatriots on the mainland, says Colonel Le Dinh Hai, deputy commander of Brigade 146, and chairman of the People’s Committee of Truong Sa island district, Khanh Hoa province.
The gifts include kumquat trees …..
….. some pigs….
……or some chickens
But they are all meaningful gifts for officers, soldiers and people on the Truong Sa archipelago during the coming festival.
Waving at mainland people, all officers and soldiers tasked with bringing Tet gifts to Truong Sa vow to deliver the gifts to recipients to ensure they will celebrate a joyful festival in the coming days.
