VOV.VN - With just one week to go before the start of the Lunar New Year holiday, known locally as Tet, Hanoians have begun purchasing Lan Ho Diep (orchid flowers) in Dan Phuong district to decorate their homes.
Covering a total area of 30,000 square metres, an orchid garden in Dan Phuong district on the outskirts of Hanoi is full of various types of different orchids.
Recent years has seen orchids become a popular item in the domestic flower market, alongside other traditional Tet flowers such as peach and apricot blossoms.
Orchids typically attract plenty of customers due to their vibrant colours and their significance for this time of year.
Orchids are known as the “queen” of flowers.
This flower is said to bring good luck for their owners moving into the new year.
The price of orchid pots ranges between several millions to several billions of VND.
Orchids are the favouraite with many people because of their beauty and long life. They boast a diverse colour which means they can easily be mixed with other flower varieties to create brilliant ornamental plant pots.
Along with diverse varieties, orchids come in different sizes, and small pots with few branches are suitable for small houses.
According to a gardener, it usually takes an entire day to decorate an entire orchid pot.
She notes that customers tend to order orchids as gifts, while some restaurants and businesses purchase them as decorations with Tet fast approaching.
