Báo Xuân
Within the space of an age-old house, images of a traditional Tet appear to be full of nostalgia.
The space is to showcase indispensable items of Tet, including Banh Chung (Vietnamese square sticky rice cake), Mam Ngu Qua (a tray of five fruits as offerings to ancestors), as well as confectionary and jam.
Folk painting genres from across the country, including Hang Trong and Kim Hoang in Hanoi, as well as Dong Ho which originates from the northern province of Bac Ninh, are used to decorate houses during Tet, sending wishes of peace, luck, and prosperity in the new year.
Featuring many vivid images, the cultural space brings visitors back to a bygone era, with colourful memories of small lanterns, flowers, hand-made decorative paper, and old newspapers. All of these remind people about the simple, cozy, and playful nature of Tet.
On display are also calligraphy works which aim to eliminate bad things and wish people a prosperous and happy new year ahead.
Children have the opportunity to enjoy early Tet celebrations at Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
The cultural space is held annually, helping the elderly to remember traditional Tet celebrations and educating young people about traditional cultural values.
