Orchid growers have been busy in recent days with taking care of orchid pots to meet all orders for Tet.
A trader says that orchid flowers symbolise wealth, luck, and prosperity, therefore recent years has seen this type of flowers become the favourite with local customers.
Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the prices of orchid flowers remain unchanged. A small plant costs VND150,000, according to Do Thi Mo, the owner of an orchid garden in Gioi Te village.
To keep up with the time of peak demand each Tet, all staff at gardens must work from morning till night in order to deliver flowers to customers before the holiday.
Despite high prices, orchid displays are much sought after by many customers who wish to welcome Tet with a flourish.
Orchids pots of all kinds, colours, and sizes are available in Gioi Te village’s gardens, providing plenty of choice for customers.
The price of huge pots of orchid flowers ranges from several millions to hundreds of millions of VND.
Orchid trees can be kept in spacious rooms and at temperatures of around 10 degrees Celsius, according to local gardeners.
Despite the village being heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, locals overcome difficulties to stand firm within the market, bringing in a higher income than rice farming.
