Báo Xuân
Located in Bac Tu Liem district, approximately 20 km from the centre of Hanoi, Tay Tuu village supplies flowers to the capital and other northern provinces during Tet.
With Tet fast approaching, flower growers have become busy taking care of their gardens in preparation for the country’s biggest holiday.
Before Tet, the COVID-19 pandemic halted their business, causing a steep drop in the price of flowers.
Gardeners were forced to cut sales of flowers in half, plant additional flowers, or leave their gardens deserted.
However, in the days leading up to Tet this year, the joy and excitement comes back to flower growers in the village thanks to the increasing demand of customers. The flower prices during Tet are slightly higher compared to last year.
Lilies, roses, and chrysanthemums are among the most popular flowers grown in Tay Tuu village.
A bunch of 10 branches of lilies costs between VND250,000 and VND300,000.
The price of a gerbera stands between VND4,000 and VND7,000.
Flowers are carefully manipulated in order to ensure they will bloom beautifully just in time for Tet.
