VOV.VN - With the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet, just around the corner, gardeners growing peaches in Nhat Tan village in Hanoi’s Tay Ho district have been busy preparing thousands of peach roots as part of efforts to meet the demand among Hanoians for flower decorations during the country’s biggest holiday.
Nhat Tan village is widely considered to be one of the largest suppliers of peach flowers in the capital.
Peach trees are diverse and come in many different types, providing multiple choice for customers.
Bonsai peaches and peach blossom branches prove to be the most popular items among customers.
Peach blossoms can be found in full swing in the village to greet the spring.
Growers bring peach blossoms to the market in order to meet demand for decorations during the Tet holiday.
Peach trees are placed into pots to allow them to grow accustomed to their new space in time for Tet.
The peach roots each have small flower buds which are carefully nurtured by the farmers’ skilled hands as a way of ensuring that they produce the most beautiful flowers possible to sell during Tet. The average price for a big-sized bonsai peach tree, which stands at between one metre and 1.5 metres tall, is between several million VND and tens of million VND.
Nhat Tan village’s peach flower blossoms can be found on sale at the famous Quang An flower market in Tay Ho district.
Nhat Tan peach branches are quite reasonably priced, ranging from VND200,000 to VND800,000 depending on their size. They are also the first choice of many customers due to their low cost and space-saving when displayed at home.
Peach branches which require more sophisticated care cost several million VND each.
