VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City launched its annual calligraphy street on January 13, attracting plenty of families and young people keen to soak up the festive atmosphere ahead of the Lunar New Year festival, known locally as Tet.
This is the 18th consecutive year that the Youth Cultural House on Pham Ngoc Thach street in District 1 has hosted such an event for calligraphers.

Traditionally during the Tet holiday people tend to visit calligraphers (ông đồ) to request New Year greetings that wish them happiness, good health, wealth, or longevity.

Visitors also have the chance to play folk games and purchase souvenir gifts, including Tò he (toy figurine), a traditional toy for local children which is made from glutinous rice powder in the form of edible figurine such as animals, flowers, or characters from folk stories.
The street of calligraphers will introduce a range of cultural activities for guests to enjoy, such as dragon and lion dances and martial art performances.
