VOV.VN - A large number of foreign tourists enthusiastically took part in a contest of wrapping Bánh Chưng, a traditional Vietnamese dish during the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet), in Phan Thiet city of Binh Thuan province on January 18.
The annual contest aims to honour the traditional values of Vietnamese cuisine through making the square glutinous cake and enjoying local Tet dishes.
Around 100 locals and foreigners take part in the event, the 12th of its kind.
Tourists listen to the chef's instructions on how to wrap the cake before beginning the competition.
Foreign tourists enjoy the Vietnamese Tet custom with a mixture of curiosity and excitement.
Bánh Chưng is a traditional and irreplaceable cake of the Vietnamese people during both Tet and the Hung Kings’ anniversary.
The competition is part of a spring festival taking place in Phan Thiet city which has made a great impression on international participants thanks to eye-catching booths of calligraphy, traditional food and drink, and children’s toys.
International tourists also have the chance to sample traditional Vietnamese outfits such as the Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba.
The annual event aims to offer a festive atmosphere to both locals and foreign tourists ahead of the Tet holiday.
