"Tet Festival 2026 highlights traditional culture in Ho Chi Minh City"

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s Tet Festival 2026 to celebrate the coming Lunar New Year of the Horse opened at the Youth Cultural House, Ho Chi Minh City, on February 1, offering a vibrant cultural space that celebrates the beauty of traditional Tet customs.

Running from February 1 to 21, the festival is held under the theme “Beauty of The Past in Today’s Radiance”, blending traditional values with contemporary creativity.

The festival space is organised around two main themes “The Past’s Beauty” and “Today’s Radiance”. The former recreates familiar images of southern Vietnam’s Tet celebrations, including the Calligraphy Street, apricot blossom street, New Year bamboo tree, spring kitchen and traditional craft villages.

A major highlight is the Calligraphy Street, featuring more than 50 young calligraphers offering New Year wishes of peace, luck and prosperity. The apricot blossom street, combined with artistic installations, is also a popular attraction for visitors.

Under the “Today’s Radiance” theme, the art exhibition “Galloping into Spring” takes the horse – the zodiac animal of 2026 – as its creative inspiration. The exhibition comprises six interactive art spaces conveying messages of inner strength, new beginnings and aspiration for the year ahead.

The festival also features an art–creativity–start-up complex, displays of One-Commune-One-Product (OCOP) and regional specialty products, along with diverse culinary spaces and a series of traditional and contemporary performances such as đờn ca tài tử (Southern amateur music), lion and dragon dances and folk music.

Vietnam’s Tet Festival 2026 is expected to remain a key cultural highlight of the Lunar New Year season, attracting large numbers of residents and tourists and helping preserve and promote the country’s rich cultural heritage.
