Ho Chi Minh City gearing up for spring flower markets
VOV.VN - A spring flower festival, along with seven flower markets, are set to be launched throughout Ho Chi Minh City in the buildup to the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet.
The event is a long-standing cultural activity, offering residents and visitors a space to enjoy the Lunar New Year (Tet).
According to the organizers, the festival will be open to the public from the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year. Exhibition spaces at Tao Dan Park (former District 1) are arranged by entrance gates, featuring distinctive display areas.
This year, the imagery of the zodiac animal of the Year of the Horse is prominently incorporated into the artistic installations.
The Truong Dinh gate area features large-scale displays titled “Horse hues welcoming spring,” the axis “Returning in glory,” the mid-scene “Hooves across the land,” and the axis “Royal yellow apricot blossoms.”
The Nguyen Thi Minh Khai gate welcomes visitors with the gate installation “Ten thousand horses welcoming spring,” the large-scale display “Gallant horses soaring through clouds,” along with geometric gardens, an orchid garden axis, and the “Giant flowers” garden. The Cach Mang Thang Tam gate area is decorated under the theme “Spring harmony.”
Alongside the decorative installations, the Tao Dan Spring Flower Festival continues to host exhibitions, displays and competitions in ornamental horticulture.
Visitors can view collections across various categories, including bonsai, miniature landscapes, orchids, desert roses, ornamental stones and driftwood, as well as the traditional songbird competition.
In parallel with the Spring Flower Festival, Ho Chi Minh City is organizing eight Tet flower markets to meet public shopping demand. These include flower markets at 23 Thang 9 Park, Gia Dinh Park and Le Van Tam Park; the “On the wharf, on the boat” spring flower market (former District 8), Binh Dien Tet flower market, and the Phu My Hung flower street.
Additional Tet flower markets are being held at Ly Thuong Kiet -Pham Ngu La-Le Lai-Thong Nhat Park (former Vung Tau city area) and at Bach Dang pedestrian street (former Binh Duong area), serving residents’ Tet flower purchasing needs.
